I am the creator and founder of this 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization named, Characters of Character. After earning a National Promising Practice award in 2005 I formed the organization in 2007 to create a bigger impact on our children and youth. Today, we have published books which you can find on Amazon here. To introduce each character to a child or youth is truly empowering and the activities we provide are engaging and impactful to a child or youth to last a lifetime. We have books, sweatshirts, tee shirts and composition notebooks to continue to reinforce these traits and provide a firm foundation for a child to establish strong civic values. WE are building the future leaders of tomorrow.
Characters of Character has created two different activity boxes which we donate to Children's Hospitals, the YMCA, social workers and even the Military families at Fort Campbell Army Base. They are extremely important, appreciated and are being requested. Please consider to donate to our cause and help us to continue to make a difference in the life of a child. Learn more here.
As we all know the importance of teach a child at an early age to have good character, it is never to late. Our youth and older children make wonderful mentors and role models. I paired up our Kindergartners and 4th graders when piloting the characters in an elementary school where they earned a National Promising Practice Award. Quite an honor as there were only two school that year in Illinois to receive one. We are in Tennessee now and continue to donate in both states where we are registered.
The lessons learned when pairing the younger child with the older child was that their confidence grew in who they were. The older students had filled with pride knowing that they were the role model for our kindergartners. When passing in the hall or the school grounds you could see the enthusiasm between the two grades knowing that they were there for one another, and keeping them on their toes!
We hope you connect with us on social media soon if you haven't already. Have you subscribed to our Newsletter which offers a monthly freebee activity to support your needs to build good character in your own child, students or community.
