I AM A QUITTER!

You’re now going to learn about a quitter, me! I AM A QUITTER! I read this from another friend who said she was now a quitter, and I thought to myself, “Oh, no! Say it isn’t so!” As I continued to read on I found myself so very proud of her for being a quitter. Strange, I know, it doesn’t sound like me, does it? After all, one of the nine Characters of Character is Do’er Duck whose message is NEVER GIVE UP! I am an encourager, I want people to succeed, do their best, not to quit!

I took a step back to reflect for a moment and found myself in the same boat. A Quitter! For the past few years I’ve gotten into the habit of being a quitter to be honest.

“I quit relationships that weren’t healthy or balanced”

“I quit caring what other people thought of me”

“I quit making myself small to keep others comfortable”

“I quit trying to open slammed doors to relationships”

“I quit apologizing for having needs”

‘I quit thinking that I couldn’t be the woman I knew I could be”

‘I quit thinking I couldn’t change the old me”

“I quit thinking I wasn’t good enough”

“I quit thinking that I couldn’t accomplish what I set out to do”

“I quit thinking that I could not find a better version of myself”

“I AM A QUITTER! And, I think you should be, too. I find it quite healthy to be a quitter these days actually. One must know when to quit, how to quit and embrace the healthy mindset of knowing that when you quit that toxic relationship, when you quit surrounding yourself with negative people, when you quit thinking bad thoughts and replace them with good, and even when you find yourself in a situation that is new to what you’re used to, you will find the good in it, you can come out stronger and when you quit, YOU’RE A WINNER!

I think a positive mindset comes with age. You’re not born with it. We need to reflect on who we are, and we should do it often, just to keep ourselves in check. You see, you matter, your are enough and if you feel like quitting, then by golly, you should quit!

Characters of Character has been posting a Mindful Monday blog to help jump start your week with a good attitude. We hope you appreciate them and use the free resources that accompany them.

Keep in mind that you are a child’s role model or a co-workers, a sibling, etc. what you say and do is a reflection of who you are. While we teach our children to never give up or be a quitter, there comes a time in life when it’s necessary. Balance if you will, no need to accept every invitation, or, no need to always say yes. I encourage you to be a quitter! When you’re overwhelmed with things to do and places to go and people to see, step back. Make good choices with your own well being. After all, there is a quitter in all of us.
