Manners Are Super!
Manners Monkey teaches children what being polite means and how to display good manners in every situation from home to play, and everywhere in between. Our Character shares the message that minding your manners can lead to successful learning and healthy relationships.
At Characters of Character, we believe that manners are a key attribute to building a firm foundation for children to develop strong civic values.
Having manners can also mean having respect for not only others, but for yourself. Having respect for yourself can also lead to building confidence. When you have a higher self-esteem it can lead to you wanting to make better decisions. Having manners can bring everything full circle.
Miss Joni, founder of Characters of Character, created Manners Monkey to use in the classroom while she was working as a teaching assistant. She noticed that students were struggle with understanding what basic traits meant. If a child doesn’t understand what manners are, how could they possibly portray that trait?
Our nonprofit offers various free character education resources that you can use in your home, school, or community. You can be the first to know when we release a new resource by joining our newsletter (scroll to the bottom of any page and you should see the newsletter sign-up!)
Manners provide structure and guidance in team building. In order to work together with others you need to portray basic manners such as not talking while someone else is talking. Manners are also important in successful friendships because it helps build a mutual respect for others.
