Super October | East Tennessee Children’s Hospital (ETCH)
BOOM! October is here and there’s nothing spooky about our Super October Focus! This month we are focusing on East Tennessee Children’s Hospital (ETCH).
As you may or may not know, Characters of Character is a registered 501(c)3 nonprofit organization. One of our ongoing projects is donating Superhero Character Building Kits to children’s hospitals in Illinois, Tennessee, and Texas.
Since this is an ongoing project, we donate our Kits throughout the year when funding is available. We work directly with each hospital location to make sure they can receive the donations prior to delivering them and adjust to their needs.
It is difficult to showcase each individual hospital since we partner with so many different locations. So, we decided to create a monthly focus where we will raise awareness & donations for a single location. Each month will be a different location and a different goal.
Why are Superhero Character Building Kits impactful?
Our organization has developed a way to provide a creative outlet while children are learning valuable character building lessons. A single Kit includes everything a child needs to complete the art activities included - that means no cross contamination or having to search for a missing component in order to complete an art project.
A hospital, no matter the reason for a visit, can be a scary place. Our Kits are not only fun & engaging, but they’re a positive outlet. Children tend to have big emotions - why not harness that and allow them to safely express their thoughts and feelings?
They are also absorbing good decision making skills, enhancing their reading, writing, and social and emotional skills - all while incorporating the arts!
How can you help support our East Tennessee Children’s Hospital donation for October?
A monetary donation is the best way to support our Super October for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital Superhero Character Building Kit donation. We will be posting updates on our Facebook page to share our progress. Our goal is a total of (20) Kits - that means we are trying to get each of those squares filled! Donations that exceed our goal will still go towards our ETCH donation.
