Write On This July

Keeping your children engaged in academics during the summer may be a challenge, however, how about displaying a calendar to encourage them! Print out the above calendar here and let them create their own Summer Journal with these writing prompts! Add your own, keep it as a visual reminder and read through it with your child to show support of their creative writing!

Tips To Encourage Writing:

  1. Have a fun learning environment with plenty of supplies to write with, crayons, pens, pencils and more

  2. Have plenty of Journals for your child to use and write in

  3. Use copy paper as a Journal, simply staple pages together and allow your child to design a cover

  4. Engage in their work, they are proud of what they accomplish on paper which helps bring it to life

  5. Be present in this process, you’ll learn more about your child, their likes, their imagination and their favorites, too

  6. Keeping charts, graphs, etc. at a visual level is important as your child will more likely see them and then engage in them

  7. Use your old magazines and let your child cut out pictures and words to build their pages

Writing allows a child to be creative. Writing allows a child to be curious. Writing allows a child to practice literacy. Writing allows a child to practice handwriting. Writing allows a child to build their imagination. Writing allows a child to stretch their mind. Write one!
