2024 Mid-Year Impact Report
WOW! We cannot believe how quickly the months are passing this year. Since we are just over halfway through 2024 we thought we would share what we have accomplished so far this year.
We have been able to donate approx. 1,225(!!) Superhero Character Building Activity Boxes to various children’s hospitals! The experiences that came along with being able to donate our activity boxes were exciting, but nothing compares to the feeling of knowing that so many young lives are being positively impacted and being providing a creative (and safe) outlet to express their emotions.
We want to extend (another) heartfelt thank you to every single person involved in allowing us to donate the 1,225 Superhero Character Building Activity Boxes. We would not be able to do this without the support of those who find value in what we do. YOU ARE SUPER!
At the time we posted this blog entry the news had not been announced, so we wanted to take a moment to say THANK YOU to Fall Out Boy for their generosity.
The Fall Out Boy Fund via the Chicago Community Foundation donated to Characters of Character to allow us to donate 200 (!!) Superhero Character Building Activity Boxes to Comer Children’s Hospital of Chicago. The number of activity boxes was included in our mid-year report numbers, but we wanted to take a moment to show our appreciation to Fall Out Boy, Crush Management, and everyone involved in helping to make this become a reality. We are so excited that we have been able to connect with a new hospital location and that so many of our activity boxes will be able to have a positive impact on so many children. We appreciate you, FOB!
Our Superhero Character Building Activity Boxes were donated to 13 different hospital locations! We are very excited to announce that we have even added new hospital locations to our donations this year including Comer’s Children’s Hospital of Chicago in Hyde Park, Illinois.
In July we began hosting our 2024 Summer Crayon Drive. During the back to school season crayons, specifically Crayola crayons, go on sale for a fraction of the cost. Being able to stock up on crayons during this time saves our nonprofit thousands of dollars during the year - allowing our impact to reach even further.
We are still collecting donations and getting a final number, but so far we have collected over 750 packs of Crayola crayons!!
We use a single (24) pack of crayons in every Superhero Character Building Activity Box that we donate to children’s hospitals - so we go through a lot of crayons.
Thank you to every person who donated to our 2024 summer crayon drive & allowing us to continue our mission of providing a firm foundation for children to develop strong civic values.
