How to Teach Good Behavior

Times have changed, I won’t argue that. But, doesn’t have good behavior top all of that? While others around us may always be on their good behavior, does that mean that you should act or talk like they do? I hope you’re thinking about it, cause the answer is no, your good behavior should be with you wherever you may go. When you’re at home, you should follow the rules, when you’re in class there are rules, too. Your community is filled with them as well, and rules are for us to follow and help keep us safe. If you’re not sure what the rules are at home, ask an adult, they’d be glad to share, and so would your teacher, because they really do care.

While our kids were growing up, there was always a friend who was full of mischief, and yes, our kids wanted to follow. It’s important to discuss with your children what the rules are, in your home, in the community, when you’re in the car, on a walk or playing in the park, rules are in place to keep us safe. Our character Behavior Bear has a few ideas which may help you out to reinforce good behavior, after all, you should feel proud of your children when you are out and about and not have to worry that they will shut down, or pout. When rules are clear in any given situation, it’s easy to comply, if you’re visiting a good friends house or playing out in the big blue sky. There are rules! These are what Behavior Bear has learned and wants to share, because you should have good behavior, every where.

At School one needs to know the rules…..Being a good listener and keeping your eyes on the speaker shows that you are surely a keeper! You’re there to learn with your hands and feet to yourself, and ask a question when you need some help. one needs to know the rules….At Home There are rules in the home and they should be made clear, like clearing the dishes and pushing in your chair doing your chores and your homework before you’re able to go and play and these are the rules that help build your character along the way.

One rule of thumb I keep close to my heart, is to try to be a role model from morning til dark. It may not seem very clear to some right now, but, your children are listening to you and your conversations. Your children are watching you with your spouse, family and friends, and the chances are that they want to be like you, over and over again. Try to be a role model, do and say the right things, for one day before you know it, your children will be on their own. It’s important to teach our children how to make good choices, some are not easy, but, making the right choice is truly the only way.
