P is for Pumpkin and Perseverance

Some Tips for Teaching Perseverance:

  • Be a role model!

  • Encourage your child to try again!

  • Toot their horn when they accomplish their feat!

  • Pick them up when they fall!

  • Allow them to fail and find the lesson learned!

  • Keep visuals, like, NEVER GIVE UP, or YOU CAN DO IT to remind them!

  • Discuss what a good feeling it is when you don’t give up!

  • Find new ways to accomplish the task if need be!

  • Share stories of how you had to try something more than once!
