Teaching Healthy Habits

Thought I’d refresh our thoughts for 2022 as so many decide to make a resolution to have healthier habits for the New Year. And, actually, healthy habits are for a life time, especially when we’re teaching our children to have healthy habits. Keep in mind that nutrition is just one part of a healthy habit. A healthy mind is very important, how do you keep your mind healthy? Perhaps reading, crossword puzzles, painting, writing and communicating? These are ways to engage our children in a healthy mind as well. Healthy Hippo is one of the nine Characters of Character teaching and reinforcing healthy habits in our youth while always lending a gentle reminder to us, the adult.

Healthy Hippo never tells you what to do, only has suggestions to help with healthy habits!

Click here for your print out to make a paper bag puppet of Healthy Hippo! If you’re reinforcing wearing a mask with your children, click here for a print out. If you’d like to introduce your child(ren) to Healthy Hippo, check out “Let’s Be Healthy” starring Healthy Hippo on Amazon along with our other published books. A fun tip is that at the end of each of our “Let’s Be” books is a template of the character. Tear it out and color it, laminate if you’d like, glue on cardstock for more durability if you’d like. Then, carry this character with you wherever you go to remind your child of the trait! You could glue it on a ruler and say, “Healthy Habits rule” or put it on a Popsicle stick and keep it handy. Visual reminders are powerful tools when teaching and reinforcing anything to your children. We hope you can appreciate all the resources we have put together to help teach these traits right at home, or in your classroom. We love sharing! Remember that as we may not think so, our children are watching what we do, they are listening to what we say and they are modeling our behaviors. Choose wisely.
