Giving Tuesday-Investment
What is GivingTuesday?
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement that unleashes the power of radical generosity around the world.GivingTuesday was created in 2012 as a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Over the past nine years, this idea has grown into a global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity. GivingTuesday strives to build a world in which the catalytic power of generosity is at the heart of the society we build together, unlocking dignity, opportunity, and equity around the globe. GivingTuesday’s global network collaborates year-round to inspire generosity around the world, with a common mission to build a world where generosity is part of everyday life.
Not only does our organization, Characters of Character inspire generosity around the world to engage our children and youth, we inspire, engage and empower others with our character traits which provide a firm foundation for our children and youth to develop strong civic values.
Why?
Building a foundation for a path to success is important for a child to become their best version of themself early on and in their growth to adulthood.
Encouraging feelings of acceptance and assisting in developing coping skills provides a platform for better decision making.
Providing a foundation of stability and structure accelerates Team Building, lessens peer pressure and again, allows for better choices.
Inspires empathy and understanding which also allows for one to make better choices, physically, emotionally and in communications.
All of which empowers a child with the tools to help them make better choices in their lives, encouraging others and building better communities.
Who are you investing in? Are you investing in the future of our children and youth? If so, Characters of Character would welcome your support as we have dedicate our time, talent and resources to make a difference in the life of a child. As a registered 501(c)(3) since 2007, our characters have impacted thousands of children and hundreds of communities with character building activities, lessons and resources. As an educator herself, the creator of the Characters of Character, Joni Downey has taken years of experience working in the classrooms of elementary schools as well of years of experience on the school Reading Team into consideration while creating the characters and their important messages.
Some of the accomplishments of Characters of Character include:
Earning a National Promising Practice Award
Voted Most Charitable Organization in McHenry County
Donating over one thousand Superhero Activity Boxes to Children’s Hospitals in Illinois, Tennessee and Texas
Donating forty Mindfulness Activity Boxes in Tennessee
Impacting tens of thousands of children through painting classes and community events
Writing over a dozen articles for Pure Living Nashville Magazine
Presenting at the Health & Wellness Fair in Nashville
Publishing over thirty books
Bringing the characters to life in costume
These are some of the accomplishments through our years as a nonprofit organization. Working from our home means we have no overhead, working with our Board of Directors and our volunteers means we have no paid staff. Joining various Chambers of Commerce allows us to network and meet others who are like minded to advocate for the future of our children and building our leaders for tomorrow.
