Gratitude Reminder
For those of you who follow me, you know that I started talking and writing about gratitude through journals, blogs and posts. I just think that someone needs to here this today. There is just such goodness in gratitude. We feel that with your mindset in a positive place, with your mindset finding the good, with your mindset seeking to find a mindfulness, gratitude is the best place to start, this is my opinion, my experience and I stand behind this with all my heart. Just yesterday I attended an event through the Nashville Chamber of Commerce, I was so excited to join the conversation on how we can work together to bring our children, youth, schools, families and the community resources and ways to empower the future. One of the speakers started her talk with sharing how she starts her day in gratitude. She had me hooked! I’m not much for data, I need to to see it, feel it, touch it and understand from it. Gratitude is just that, I’ve seen it in action, I’ve felt it’s empowerment, and, I understand it. It’s quite simple, the first step is to be aware that you are in need of finding your gratitude, meaning that you are willing to change your mindset.
Not all of us will find our mindful gratitude in the same way, but, we are all looking for the same results. Find yours. If you find gratitude in beginning or ending your day in prayer, do it. If you find gratitude in beginning or ending your day in writing in your journal, or if you find gratitude in beginning or ending your day in drawing in your journal, do it. If you find gratitude in writing down three things you are grateful for each day or night, do it. It doesn’t matter how you find your gratitude, it matters that you find it, that you keep it alive and that you are grateful.
We at Characters of Character believe in a firm foundation, it’s part of our service. Providing a firm foundation for children to establish strong civic values. We have seen children react to our characters with such excitement, this brings us gratitude. We have felt the children’s and parents appreciation of our work we do to provide resources, lessons and activities to teach and reinforce our children with nine core values, this brings us gratitude. We have heard conversations in schools, libraries, families and communities referencing the characters and their important message, this brings us great gratitude.
Naturally, we feel that with a firm foundation, our children will first:
Have an understanding of what good behavior, perseverance, healthy habits, good manners, respect, being responsible, liking who they are and being warmhearted is part of character.
Have an understanding that there are choices, to make good choices and not so good choices, and that there are consequences to both.
Having exposure to what good character sounds like, from you, their role model is important.
Having exposure and experience to what character looks like, again, from you, their role model is important.
Having exposure and experience to what feels like, from you, their role model.
Teaching and reinforcing good character in your family, your children and grandchildren begins at home, from you, you are their role model, their teacher, the one they trust and respect.
The point of my rant this morning is to find gratitude, build your firm foundation, grow with it, learn from it and be a role model, people, children are listening to you, watching you, and are grateful for who you are.
